After a research I have made about the Theatre of Delphi, I have found a 1972
article, referring to the performance of Oedipus Rex in 1951. Trying to transfer
here as accurately as I can the words of the journalist, I hope you can travel
back to this magnificent –as it seems- performance;
Performed in the late afternoon, the program was so timed that when Oedipus had
gouged out his eyes with his own hands after being convinced of his crimes of
parricide and incest, the glow had faded from the Phaedriades and the warm blue,
pink and mauve tints on the sides of the enclosing hills had turned dun-gray.
